# Reports Without Power BI

- **Industry**: A Turkish fintech company
- **Service**: [Reporting & Dashboards](https://pragmaticgrowth.com/services/reporting)

A fintech company's reporting depended on a few people and a tool most of the team never learned. Now teams build the reports they need themselves.

## Results

- **Self-serve** teams generate the reports they need themselves, on the company's own database
- **No Power BI** and no new tool to learn: reports follow the questions the team asks
- **E-invoices** go into the accounting software automatically, by agreed rules, not line by line

## Reports Stuck With a Few People

Reporting ran through scheduled automations and Power BI. The automations helped, but every new question still needed someone who knew the tool, and most of the team never climbed its learning curve.

Meanwhile e-invoices arrived every day and had to be entered into the accounting software by hand, line by line.

## Mapping Who Needs Which Numbers

We listed who asks for which report, how often, and where the data behind it lives. We also traced the e-invoice flow from arrival to the accounting software.

The answer was not another dashboard tool. It was a reporting tool built on their own database, shaped around the questions the team actually asks.

- The reports each team asks for, and how often
- Where the data behind each number lives
- Which steps of report building could run by themselves
- How e-invoices move from arrival into accounting

## A Reporting Tool on Their Own Database

We built a reporting tool connected directly to the company's database. Teams choose what they need and generate reports themselves, with clean dashboards and no new tool to learn.

Alongside it, incoming e-invoices now import into the accounting software automatically, following the company's own rules.

1. **Your database**: The tool reads the company's own data; nothing is copied out into spreadsheets.
2. **Report generated**: Teams choose what they need and the report is built for them.
3. **Dashboards**: Clean dashboards show the numbers each team follows.
4. **Shared**: Reports reach the people who need them, on schedule.

- **Self-Serve Reports**: Teams answer their own questions without waiting for the one person who knows the tool.
- **E-Invoices Imported by Rules**: Incoming e-invoices go into the accounting software automatically, following agreed rules.
- **No Tool to Learn**: Reports are built around the questions the team asks, not around a tool's menus.

## How It Runs Now

Reporting no longer waits for a few people. Teams get the numbers they need from their own data, and e-invoices no longer need to be typed in by hand.

It started as report automation and became a product the company runs every day. That is the pattern we look for: understand the pain first, then build the system that removes it.
